Write to cyberxkte@gmail.com and describe your instrument, your device and what you were doing. That is usually enough to find it.
Sound and detection
The tuner is not detecting anything
- Check that microphone permission is granted to Afinora.
- Play one string at a time and let it ring.
- Reduce background noise, and check no other app is holding the microphone.
- Confirm the selected instrument and tuning match what you are playing.
The reading jumps around
Pitch detection is affected by room noise, old strings, and several strings ringing at once. Mute the others and try again. On an electric instrument through the phone microphone the fundamental is weak, which is the hardest case there is — a wired signal fixes it outright.
USB audio interfaces
Why use one
A wired signal is what makes every note read exactly, which is what technique training depends on. An unamplified electric guitar is not a signal a detector can read reliably, and a room microphone drops notes as soon as there is noise. Afinora detects the interface, compensates its latency and tells you it is connected.
Which ones work
Afinora has been tested with the Fender Mustang Micro Plus. Other class-compliant USB audio interfaces should work the same way, but only that one has been verified. Acoustic instruments can train through the phone microphone instead.
Afinora does not see my interface
- Connect the interface before opening the training screen, and use the Search again button.
- Check the interface output volume — a signal too quiet to read looks the same as no signal.
- On Android, some hubs and adapters do not pass USB audio. A direct cable is the reliable case.
Notes are marked late when I played them on time
That is interface latency, and it is measurable. Afinora proposes a correction when a session shows a consistent offset; accept it and the offset is remembered for that interface.
Technique training
What the grades mean
Every note you play is graded as it arrives: clean, late or missed. Pitch and timing are measured separately, so a note marked late was the right note at the wrong moment, not a note that was misheard.
Can I use my own exercises
Yes. In the Custom tab you can import an exercise written as plain text.
Studio
Where do my takes go
Takes are written to the app's storage. Save one to your gallery and it becomes an ordinary file on your device; share one and it goes to whichever app you pick.
Studio stopped letting me record
The free version includes 5 Studio recordings. Only takes longer than 15 seconds count, so a level check is not charged against the allowance. Afinora Pro removes the limit.
Purchases
Is Afinora Pro a subscription
No. It is a one-time purchase that unlocks everything permanently.
How do I restore my purchase
Open Afinora, go to the Pro screen and tap Restore purchase. Be signed in with the same account you bought it with: your Google account if you installed from Google Play, or your Apple Account if you installed from the App Store. A purchase made on one store cannot be restored on the other.
What is in the free version
Afinora opens with 5 days of full access. After that the free version keeps one instrument of your choice, the major and minor scales, and 5 Studio recordings.
Other
Which instruments are supported
Guitar, 7-string guitar, bass, ukulele, Venezuelan cuatro, violin, viola, cello, mandolin and banjo, with over 30 standard and alternate tunings plus tunings you build yourself.
Does Afinora upload my audio
No. Pitch detection happens on your device as the audio arrives and is never written to a file. Recordings stay on your device unless you share them. See the Privacy Policy.
