If something does not sound the way it should
Almost everything that goes wrong with a tuner is the signal reaching it, not the tuner. Here are the cases we see again and again, and what to do about each.
The app detects no sound
- Make sure microphone permission is allowed for Afinora.
- Tune in a quiet environment.
- Hold the phone near the instrument.
- Play one string at a time and let it ring clearly for a moment.
- Confirm the selected instrument and tuning match what you are playing.
The note jumps around
Pitch detection can be affected by background noise, old strings, harmonics, or several strings ringing at once. Mute the other strings and try again.
The reference tone is not what I expected
Check the selected instrument, tuning and A4 reference frequency in Settings. The note buttons play the target sound for the current tuning, so if that reference is set to 432 Hz, the tone sounds at 432 Hz.
Technique training cannot see my electric
An unamplified electric guitar does not produce a signal a detector can read reliably, and a room microphone drops notes as soon as there is noise. Grading note by note needs a USB audio interface: plug one in and Afinora detects it, compensates its latency and tells you. Acoustic instruments do train through the phone's microphone.
I bought Pro and it is not showing
Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your store account. If you changed phones or reinstalled the app, use the restore-purchases option inside Afinora with the same Google Play or App Store account you bought it with. If it still does not appear, write to us with the purchase date.
Where do my recordings go?
On your phone. Studio takes are files on the device; the app never uploads them to a server. You can save them to your gallery or share them yourself, and uninstalling the app deletes the ones you have not saved elsewhere.
